Getting a WordPress blog up and running on your own domain is simple.

Here are step by step instructions to install a WordPress blog using using Fantastico

Register a domain name at GoDaddy.com Choose something that clearly reflects what your blog is about.
Go to HostGator to buy hosting for your domain. I recommend you use HostGator because you can get started for a few dollars a month, it’s reliable, gives excellent 365 support, and it has an automatic install feature that makes it easy to set up your blog. http://lynnelee.com/hostgator
Go back to GoDaddy.com and change the domain name servers (DNS) to those that HostGator gave you in your welcome email. Once you have logged into your GoDaddy.com account you’ll be able to easily change the Name Servers.

This connects your domain name to your hosting company so that you have an address on the web that people can find. It may take a few hours for the change to broadcast across the web so that people can see your site when they type in your domain name.

Once your domain name is propagated, you can install your WordPress blog. You need to log into your web hosting control panel which you can access by going to www.yourdomain.com/cpanel. Once you are logged in simply scroll down and click on Fantastico.

Then click on WordPress under the Blogs section on the left and follow the simple instructions to install your blog. Your blog will be live in a few minutes.
